Critique of Katanga’s acquittal for sexual violence charges
On 11 June 2014, Brigid Inder, Executive Director of the Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice gave a speech on an expert panel at the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict held in London, UK. During the panel titled, ‘Prosecuting Sexual Violence in Conflict’, she presented an analysis of the Judgment issued by Trial Chamber II of the ICC, in which Germain Katanga was acquitted of the war crimes and crimes against humanity of rape and sexual slavery.
