May 6, 2025 – After more than a decade of dedicated service to Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice, Gabrielle McIntyre is stepping down from our Board of Directors, including her role as Chair, following her appointment as Director of the Secretariat of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP) to the Rome Statute.

Gabrielle’s time with Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice coincided with major strides to strengthen gender competency within international law institutions, expand global partnerships, and elevate attention to gender-based crimes through strategic advocacy and legal expertise. Her leadership played a central role in shaping many of these efforts.

In her new role at the ASP Secretariat, Gabrielle is well-positioned to continue championing multilateralism at a time when international cooperation is increasingly under strain.

Her deep commitment to the promise of the ICC and her long-standing engagement with civil society will continue to make her an important ally in the continued pursuit of justice.

Statement from Alix Vuillemin, Executive Director

“It has been a rare privilege to work alongside Gabrielle. It marked a time of exceptional commitment to the transformative power of justice and an unwavering belief in the role of international accountability. Known for her energy and determination — working around the clock — Gabrielle leads with an intensity of purpose. Beyond her professional contributions, I will miss Gabrielle’s generous spirit, legendary sense of humour, and keen sense of style — all of which brought a special energy to our work together.”

We are deeply grateful for Gabrielle’s leadership, vision, and years of support. While we will miss her presence on the Board, we look forward to continued collaboration in this next chapter of her career.
