On 24 September 2020, Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice joined nine other NGOs in welcoming a number of improvements made in the March 2020 version of the ‘Mutual Legal Assistance Initiative’ (MLA) Draft Convention, a new multilateral treaty for the domestic prosecution of the most serious international crimes.

To further strengthen the draft and work toward the MLA becoming a powerful instrument for cooperation and a useful tool for effective investigations and prosecutions of crimes under international law, we call for the draft to include a number of further amendments.
