Joint Open Letter on the Election of the ICC Prosecutor: Zero Tolerance Must be Shown Towards Sexual Harassment
The next International Criminal Court Prosecutor will be elected by States Parties to the Rome Statute in December 2020. The States Parties have mandated the Committee on the Election of the Prosecutor to vet applicants and issue a shortlist of three to six of the most highly qualified candidate.
Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice joins other NGOs in requesting the Committee on the Election of the ICC Prosecutor to ensure zero tolerance for any history of sexual harassment in the assessment of candidates. Those who commit, condone, or ignore sexual harassment in and outside the workplace should be excluded from the election.
