The Women’s Initiatives has joined with partners in eastern DRC, representing over 180 Congolese organisations, in preparing an Open Letter calling for the United Nations to implement Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820 in relation to the participation of women in peace talks and ending impunity for gender based crimes in armed conflicts.

The Open Letter to the UN Secretary General comes at a time when Mr Ban Ki-moon is preparing a report on Resolution 1820, to be submitted to the Security Council on 30 June.
