What can civil society and experts do?

  1. Join the Alliance for Change by filling out the survey. Everyone is invited to fill out the survey, no need to be an expert.
    • Have your name (and logo) included in the Alliance for Change website and communication material.
  2. Share the survey through your networks, including to (partners working with) survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (as appropriate), experts, academics etc.
  3. Raise awareness about the campaign.
    • Through social media;
    • By writing blogs posts or opinion pieces on the topic;
    • By developing talking points to use in relevant meetings and conferences.
  4. Share information about high-level meetings, conferences or events that the campaign could be tied to see if we can organise a meeting around that to discuss the campaign and obtain support.
  5. Participate in regional consultations.
  6. Be involved in the drafting or finalisation stage of the declaration.
  7. Sign on to the declaration.

What can states do?

  1. Fill out the survey. Everyone is invited to fill out the survey, no need to be an expert.
  2. Share the survey through your networks, particularly:
    • Diplomatic missions around the world, especially those located in countries where conflict-related sexual violence is or was prevalent. Kindly ask your counterparts to fill out the survey and share with their (in-country) networks, including local experts, NGOs, community leaders, academics, and law practitioners.
    • Relevant national academia, universities, think tanks, institutes, (international) law centers.
    • Relevant experts within your national government, such as ministry officials working on international law, gender, sexual violence, countries where conflict-related sexual violence is or was prevalent.
  3. Raise awareness about the campaign and its aims.
    • Through social media;
    • By writing blogs posts or opinion pieces on the topic;
    • By developing talking points to use in relevant meetings and conferences.
  4. Let us know when high-level meetings, conferences or events are taking place that the campaign could be tied to.
    • Assist in organizing events in the margins of relevant conferences.
  5. Provide financial support to the campaign.
  6. Endorse the declaration once drafted.
