Statement by the Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice on the Opening of the ICC Trial of Katanga and Ngudjolo
The trial of Germaine Katanga and Mathieu Ngudjolo Chui, the second trial arising out of the Situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, opened on 24 November 2009 in The Hague. The Katanga and Ngudjolo trial marks the first time that charges of gender-based crimes will be tried at the ICC.
