Read the statement by the Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice on the confirmation of charges hearing in the case against Laurent Koudou Gbagbo (Gbagbo), the first former head of state to appear before the ICC. Gbagbo, former President of Côte d’Ivoire, has been charged as an indirect co-perpetrator under Article 25(3)(a) with murder, rape and other forms of sexual violence, persecution, and other inhumane acts as crimes against humanity, alleged to have been committed in the context of post-electoral violence in the territory of Côte d’Ivoire between 16 December 2010 and 12 April 2011.
