On 8 March 2013, the Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice filed a request for leave to submit observations in the reparations proceedings before the Appeals Chamber in the case The Prosecutor v. Thomas Lubanga Dyilo. The request was filed in response to the Appeals Chamber’s “Decision on the admissibility of the appeals against Trial Chamber I’s ‘Decision establishing the principles and procedures to be applied to reparations’ and directions on the further conduct of proceedings” of 14 December 2012, and pursuant to Rule 103(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence.

The Women’s Initiatives requested leave to submit observations inclusive of a gender perspective to the Appeals Chamber on issues arising out of the documents in support of the appeals in the case against Thomas Lubanga Dyilo (Lubanga). In 2012, the Women’s Initiatives requested and was granted leave to submit observations on reparations in the case against Lubanga before Trial Chamber I.
